Modelling with the Master Equation

Guenter Haag studied engineering and physics at the University of Stuttgart and earned his Ph. D in Physics in 1978. He was visiting professor at the Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland in 1982 and the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), Vienna in 1990. At that time he was also member of the working groups Long waves in economy and Metropolitan studies at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Laxenburg. The appointment to a university lectureship came in 1985 and in 1995 he was appointed APL professor for Theoretical Physics at the University of Stuttgart. In 1993 he became in addition managing director of the Institute for Applied Economic Research, Tuebingen. Two years later he founded the Steinbeis Transfer Center Applied Systems Analysis in Stuttgart, and in 2003 the STASA GmbH. He is member of different international working groups and member in the editorial board of international journals. He has initiated and led several national and international projects in the field of system analysis, statistics, urban and regional development and transport theory.
