This book is about the Random Field Ising Model (RFIM) – a paradigmatic spin model featuring a frozen disordering field. The focus is on the second-order phase transition between the paramagnetic and ferromagnetic phases, and the associated critical exponents. The book starts by summarizing the curr...

Slava Rychkov (PhD 2002, Princeton University) is a permanent professor of theoretical physics at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques in Bures-sur-Yvette, France. His research interests encompass quantum and conformal field theory, as well as the renormalization group and their applications to critical phenomena. Rychkov has received notable recognition for his contributions to the field. He was awarded the New Horizons in Physics Prize in 2014 and the Grand Prix Mergier-Bourdeix of the French Academy of Sciences in 2019 for his groundbreaking work on the development of the conformal bootstrap method in dimensions greater than two (d>2). He published the book EPFL Lectures on Conformal Field Theory in D = 3 Dimensions (Springer, 2017).
